Getting the Help You Need

There are Three (3) Steps

Applications are taken during our normal business hours.


Our hours of operation are: 

Monday: 10 am – 1 pm

Thursday: 1 pm – 4 pm


You must be checked in 30 minutes prior to closing.



To be approved for assistance, your identification and residency must be verified.  Assistance is allocated based on income, so we also require information about your income.


Please bring the following required documentation to complete the application process:


1. You will need to verify your identity.   Acceptable forms of identification are:Driver’s License/State Identification with a photo .


2. You will need to verify your residency in either the 75115 or 75154 zip codes You must verify your residency by providing any  the following. 

  • Current Water Bill
  • Current Electric Bill
  • Current Gas Bill
  • Current Phone Bill
  • Current Cable Bill
  • Lease Agreement
  • Mortgage Statement
  • Letter from landlord confirming residency and listing full address and amount of rent.
  • A dated letter from family member confirming residency and listing full address and amount of rent.


3. You will need to verify your income/level of need.

You must verify your income/need by providing any of the following. Having 1 of these items is mandatory.

  • Two current pay stubs

                 Disability income award letter

  • Unemployment award letter
  • Current bank statement showing direct deposit
  • Section 8 letter
  • Child support
  • TANF
  • V.A. Benefits
  • Retirement or pension
  • Workers  compensation

DeSoto Food Pantry, Inc operates in accordance with the US Department of Agriculture and Texas Department of Human Services policy, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, sex, age, disability, religion, political belief, or national origin.


Upon approval you will receive a combination of the following based on need and availability.


You may come to the pantry once per calendar month


Canned Goods:

  • Green beans
  • Mixed vegetables, collards, spinach
  • Corn
  • Peas, beans, carrots
  • Spaghetti sauce
  • Ravioli/other pasta and meat
  • Soup
  • Fruit
  • Peanut butter

Bread:

  • Cracker/White Bread or Wheat Bread

Package item:

  • Boxed macaroni and cheese  
  • Spaghetti/macaroni
  • Dry Beans
  • Rice
  • Cereal


 Meat and Protein:

  • Eggs
  • Canned or Frozen meat
